Topic: Road awareness of young drivers.
Is South Australia's Road Training adequate in comparison to other Australian States Questions: What are the road crash statistics? What are the road accidents statistics according to age od drivers and state population? Are young drivers being trained adequately? What factors contribute to the high amount of youths being in crashes? What contributes to the high amount of young drivers involved in accidents?
I chose this topic as the year 11’s recently had the Fire service present a Road Awareness Program. I was deeply shocked to find that so many young people around my age were injured and killed as a result of crashes. Also experienced hoon driving while with friends and seen and been in accidents. Because of this I want to spread the concern and warn others like my friends about the real dangers on the road.
Background knowledge, and knowledge need to gain
Chosen Capability
I have chosen the capability of communication. This is a relevant as from the outcome of my research I hope to inform and to change the view of my friends that drive recklessly and have no concerns of the dangers on the road.
Research Processes
I plan to first interview people to obtain their views on whether young drivers are trained adequately and how serious they take driving. I also plan to research web-based and library resources to gain statistics and other views and analysing them. Throughout my project I will journal my thoughts and reflect on the outcomes of the research to help keep track of my progress. I must also take into account ethical considerations when interviewing, to first inform them about the subject and obtain consent. As some people may have been or had someone close to them involved in a crash therefore it could be upsetting subject for them.
